technical disaster and heartache /// week 1
Monday, January 5, 2009 at 08:09PM A scene that could make almost anyone cry:

No, I did just pull my hard drive for fun. It died :-( - and at the worst possible time - right as I neared completion of a 2 week long video project. I am home for the holidays and my main external drive is at my apartment. THE HORROR! I couldn't believe what was happening. It was like my whole world came crashing down. All 122.45 GB of data - gone. All of it! What a way to start the new year. Luckily, I had my extra computer with me and am currently working super super overtime to get the project done before my cross country trip back home. I will now travel with a large jump drive with a bootable OS on it as well as a very large external when I get home. In this business, data = money. No data = no money.

Same thing happened to me about a week before Christmas, it's painful. Mine was a replacement for another drive that had failed on me in March. It wasn't all bad though, gave me a reason to go get myself a new external drive. I was able to get the stuff I hadn't backed up off too.
